The 840 (S33400) alloy is an austenitic stainless steel containing titanium and aluminum. It contains enough chromium to form and maintain a sufficient scale of chromium oxide to protect it under high temperature conditions. It is more resistant to high temperatures than traditional chrome-nickel stainless steel such as 304.High nickel content makes it better anti-oxidation performance than the standard 18-8 stainless steel. Its oxidation resistance is not inferior to the use of higher grade alloys with temperatures up to 1900 degrees Fahrenheit (1038 ”ć C).Therefore, the 840 (S33400) alloy is an ideal material for the manufacture of electric heating pipes, automotive emission control systems and other high temperature resistant products.
